Pillar Capital is Growing

The past twelve months have been the busiest since I founded the firm in 2010. In that time I have been deliberate about how the firm grows, and even more deliberate about who I would trust with the families we serve. So, I am excited to announce that I have brought on Clayton Johnson, another wealth advisor, to help take this firm to the next level.

I wanted someone who brings additional experience to the team and shares the way we think about money, so I took my time. Clayton has spent more than ten years working with business owners, executives, and successful families to help them grow their wealth on an after-tax basis.

He was a lead wealth advisor at Aerodigm Wealth serving ultra-high-net-worth families, and before that spent years at Squire Wealth Advisors working with business owners through growth, liquidity events, and succession. He holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) designations, and the CPWA® is built specifically for advising families with $5 million and up. He graduated from BYU and serves on the board of the Utah Valley Estate Planning Council, which is where I first got to know him during my time as president there.

Now we are seeing a significantly greater need to address new questions and challenges like a business sale, a concentrated stock position, a trust for the grandkids, and how to pass all of it to the next generation without giving a third or more of it to the IRS. This is why Clayton felt like the right fit. He has spent his career coordinating the tax, investment, and estate pieces so they operate together.

To be clear, I am not going anywhere, and nothing about how we invest or serve our clients changes. If anything, we seek to improve our service now that two of us are thinking about your family instead of one.

Outside the office, Clayton loves playing sports, especially volleyball, spends his weekends in the mountains with his wife Jenna and their three daughters, and is active in his community and church.
